Catering Assistant

The galley is the heart of the ship and we are looking for a catering assistant to join our year-out team, who has a passion for food and a desire to share the Gospel.

Catering Assistant (Twelve Month Post)

Every September, FACT welcomes a new team of year-out staff, who are eager to live in Christian community and share their faith by serving our guests. Typically these exciting posts are filled by students either before or after a degree, but are open to anyone who wants to share their faith whilst living in a faith-based community and serving a Christian charity. 

Full training is provided during the year, with lots of opportunity to develop a whole range of skills for life – it is a life changing year.

It’s best if you’ve had some experience of catering for numbers – but not essential. You’ll need to be full of energy, have good ideas for new sandwich fillings, be able to work in conditions of high heat and a big dose of humour and not prone to panic, when numbers for dinner double unexpectedly. There will be opportunities to engage in group work, develop your Christian faith and, even get a sail or two in the estuary. The FACT food department is one of the most crucial parts of our operation – you’ll never be short of friends! Rewards are numerous – but you’ll certainly get pocket money per month and a cabin onboard.  

This role is subject to a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) that the successful applicant is a Christian; satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS Check and; the right to work in the UK. Overseas applicants are welcome to apply through Time for God or, if a German national, through GVS.
