RYA Powerboat Level 2

An ideal introduction to a range of boat handling skills. 

This two day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. This course provides boat handling and seamanship in powerboats in a coastal environment, and includes:

  • boat handling
  • anchoring
  • securing to a buoy
  • leaving and coming alongside
  • man overboard
  • emergency situations
  • types of craft & power units
  • coastal & tidal instruction

This course is for powerboats up to 10 metres, and is suitable for ages 14+ (under 16’s will have their certificate endorsed to be supervised by an adult until they are 16).

The ratio of students to instructors will not exceed 3:1. Minimum course duration is 2 days. The course includes an RYA Start Powerboating book, and a Powerboat Level 2 certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course syllabus.
